Welcome to theAustralia Japan Society of North Queensland
About the Society
The Australia Japan Society North Queensland is a non-profit, non-political, non-racial and non-sectarian organisation. It aims to promote a common interest and mutual understanding in all matters relating to Australia & Japan, leading to goodwill and friendship between peoples.
In order to achieve these objectives the Society engages in a wide range of activities; some are aimed at providing social contact between Australia & Japanese peoples, others at providing cultural exchange and information. We became incorporated in 2007 with a membership of around 25.
Japanese Film Festival Mini Townsville
What a day!!!! THANK YOU all for coming to watch Japanese movies at the Japanese film festival today. AJSNQ appreciate that Japan Foundation Sydney fully funded the cost of this fantastic event. Also, special thanks to the amazing staffs at the Reading cinema to be very flexible and kindly supported this event. Last but not least, our AJSNQ committee members who worked for a whole day as a volunteer staff, you are all amazing people who work for our small Japanese community! If you would like to join our team for further event, please contact us via Facebook message or email.
Otsukimi Picnic Party
We had a fantastic turn-out on the Strand for our first AJST annual event for 2017 to meet old family and friends from AJST and meet new members that have joined the community. We had Taiko performances by Townsville's very own Kanade taiko group, and also some talented students from Saint Margaret Mary's College. All guests were invited to taste our Mochi Moon Cakes that were lovingly prepared by our Society's members. Overall it was a fun night of socialising, and we look forward to the next time we can see you all again!
Carins Bon Odori Festival

Congratulations on hosting a successful event to Japan society of Cairns (ケアンズ日本人会). We are truly impressed with the festival and hoping to host a Japan festival in the near future in Townsville.
